Have You Been Pwned?

October 18, 2017

Although you may be cautious with how you share your personal information online, you are still vulnerable to hackers. It is estimated that over 25 million Gmail and Yahoo accounts are being sold online. Many of these accounts were stolen through hacks on LinkedIn, Adobe, Bitcoin, Dropbox, and several other sites.

If you use these sites and are concerned your personal information may have been compromised, the 'Have I Been Pwned' website can give you the answer. The website provides the public a means to see if their private information has been stolen.

The site collects and analyzes data that contains information about hundreds of leaked accounts. It allows visitors to enter their email address to see a list of all known breaches tied to that account. It also provides information about each data breach and what types of data it included.

Additionally, Have I Been Pwned offers a notification service that allows visitors to subscribe and receive notifications about future breaches. Once someone subscribes to the service they will receive notifications anytime their personal information is found in a data breach.

To find out if you have been pwned, visit the website http://www.haveibeenpwned.com and enter your email address. If you have been affected, change your password immediately.
