A Legacy of Service to Country and Clients
After three decades of honorable service to his clients, his community, and his country, Bob Livingston, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and Certified Kingdom Advisor®, has announced his retirement from One Financial Services.
⚓ Foundation of Leadership & Military Service
Bob’s professional journey is rooted in leadership, discipline, and global perspective:
- Academic Roots: Graduated from Bethany College with a degree in economics, followed by advanced studies through the University of Wisconsin's graduate program and the American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.
- Naval Career: Joined the U.S. Navy via the Officer Candidate Program, serving five years on active duty as a Naval Surface Warfare Officer aboard destroyers worldwide. It was during this time that he discovered his passion for financial planning by helping fellow sailors map out their futures.
- Corporate & Reserve Success: Spent 11 years in corporate management at a major Fortune 500 company while maintaining his naval affiliation through the Navy Reserves.
- Retiring as Captain: Retired at the rank of Captain in 2005 after 25 years of cumulative service, which included a prestigious tour as Commanding Officer of an Intelligence unit dedicated to combating terrorism.
💼 A Human-Centered Approach to Wealth Management
For Bob, financial planning has always been about building deep relationships rather than just managing portfolios:
- The Advisor’s Joy: "The greatest satisfaction has come from earning people's trust, helping them define their goals, and watching them achieve them. When clients open up about their hopes and fears, you develop truly intimate connections."
- Guiding Through Transition: Bob specialized in turning financial fear into confidence. He recalls his most fulfilling moments as helping vulnerable clients, like recent widows, take control of their bills and investments to find ultimate confidence.
- Timeless Philosophy: Bob firmly believes that while technology and AI evolve, human judgment remains irreplaceable. "The fundamentals of investing remain constant: stocks represent ownership, and interest rates go up and down. The only true constant is change."
🗺️ The Next Chapter: "Chill Mode" and New Horizons
As Bob transitions into a well-deserved retirement, his immediate focus is striking a healthy work-life balance and embracing complete freedom:
- Year One: Committing to saying "no" to new obligations for the first 12 months to finish an informal to-do list and settle into a relaxed routine.
- Travel Plans: Starting with short weekend trips and a visit to a dark skies park for stargazing.
- The Grand Road Trip: Following his wife Carol’s retirement, the couple plans to drive cross-country to explore the Western National Parks alongside their two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Emma and Murphy.
- Global Exploration: Future plans include extensive travel throughout Europe.
Thank you, Bob! Your friends and colleagues at One Financial Services are profoundly grateful for your invaluable contributions, leadership, and warmth. We wish you and Carol an exciting, fulfilling, and peaceful retirement.
